About me

I became an accredited professional indexer in 2020 after completing the Society of Indexers’ training course. Proofreading had been a major part of my working life for a long time but I wanted to formalise my skills and so trained with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading in 2020–21. I am an intermediate member of the society.

Prior to this I worked in arts marketing for over a decade, first for an independent cinema, then for a theatre. Writing, copyediting and proofreading were always the elements of the job I most enjoyed.

Rewinding further back, I worked as an academic librarian as a subject specialist for the arts faculty, before moving into public libraries and working on children’s literacy initiatives.

Somewhere in the midst of this I worked as a freelance copywriter too. Along the way I also worked as a bookseller.

So words and books have always been my thing. And all of this has led me to my current life as an indexer and proofreader, which is exactly where I want to be.
